What is a powered walking aid?
Easy Stride is a powered walking exoskeleton. You wear a light frame at the waist and thighs and motors at the hips add assistance as you walk. It recognises uphill, downhill and steps and adjusts as you go. Most people use it to walk further or take hills more easily without arriving worn out.
It is not a walking aid in the way a stick, a frame or a rollator is. It carries none of your weight and it does not keep your balance. It adds strength to walking you can already do. The technology explains how it works.

Who is it for?
It suits adults who walk unaided and find hills, distance or long days more tiring than they used to. Your waist needs to measure 28 to 44 inches and you must be 18 or over. We would rather tell you it is not right than hire it to the wrong person.
It suits you if
- You can already stand, balance and walk independently, without a walking aid or another person
- Hills, distance or long days have become more tiring
- You want help with effort and stamina, not with balance
- Your waist measures 28 to 44 inches and you are 18 or over
- You will use it in the UK, on foot, for recreational walking
It is not for you if
- Balance is your main concern or you rely on a stick, a frame or a rollator
- You need to sit down to get around
- You are recovering from surgery or live with an illness or long-term disability
- You are pregnant or under 18
- A doctor has advised you not to stand, walk or exercise
This is a summary. The safety guide has the full list and forms part of your hire agreement. If you are unsure ring us on 0330 229 7340 before you book. If you need something to sit on or lean on instead, short-term mobility hire compares your options.

Questions about powered walking aid hire
Is it a mobility aid or a medical device?
No. It is a non-medical powered walking exoskeleton that adds strength to walking you can already do unaided. It gives no balance support and will not stop a fall. If you need a stick, a frame, a rollator or a scooter use that instead. Short-term mobility hire explains the difference.
How far will it take me on a charge?
Up to 17.5km (about 11 miles) on one battery in the manufacturer's test. Steep ground, a faster pace, cold weather and the stronger assistance mode all shorten that. Every hire includes two batteries and a charge takes about 90 minutes.
Will it help on hills?
Hills are where most people notice it. It recognises uphill, downhill and steps and adjusts as you go. It will not keep your balance so use a handrail where there is one and take the usual care on uneven ground. Hills and long walks goes into the detail.
Will it fit me?
One adjustable size fits waists of 28 to 44 inches and is worn over normal clothes. Measure where a belt sits. The size guide shows how.
How do I get started?
Allow half an hour for the first fitting. Put it on indoors at a low assistance level then try a short familiar walk. A large-print quick-start guide and the full manual come in the case. You do not need a smartphone or an app.
Can I use it in the rain?
Light rain and splashes are fine because it is rated IP54. Heavy or prolonged rain is not and it must never be submerged. Dry it off each evening and never charge it while it is wet.
How do delivery and return work?
We deliver by tracked courier across mainland UK. Post it back by your end date with the prepaid label and bag from any Post Office and keep the receipt. Delivery and Returning it have the detail.
Can I take it abroad?
Only with our written agreement first. We deliver within mainland UK and lithium batteries have airline rules. Ask us before you book flights around it.
Rather talk it through?
Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm
Tell us what you want to walk and where. We will tell you honestly whether it will help.
